How to make it

  • Peel Plantains and slice into 1/2 rounds diagonally
  • On each side of the cut plantains stick a whole clove, set aside
  • In a frying pan over medium heat add the oil.
  • To the hot oil add a tsp of sugar.
  • One the sugar caramelizes, immediately start adding the plantains & move around in the oil and sugar .
  • Fry each side until golden brown.
  • When plantains are cooked, leave in frying pan, lower the heat and add the cinnamon stick.
  • Mix the water and the sugar and pour this over the plantains
  • Cook for 6-7 minutes until the sugar has turned an amber color and is thick and gooey like syrup.
  • Do not let this dish get dried out because the sugar will get sticky and hard.
  • Serve Immediately See Photo
