Steak Creole

- 3 lbs. lean, boneless top round steak/london broil shopping list
- pepper shopping list
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 onion, thickly sliced shopping list
- 2 green bell peppers, seeded and sliced shopping list
- 2 cloves chopped garlic shopping list
- 2 cups beef broth shopping list
- 1 (15-oz) can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 tsp brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 tsp dried basil shopping list
- 1 tsp dried thyme shopping list
- 1 tsp dried oregano shopping list
How to make it
- Season steak with pepper and dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- In a large nonstick skillet, brown the steak over medium-high heat.
- Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Add onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the rest of the ingredients, bring to a boil.
- Return steak to the skillet and baste with sauce.
- Cover and cook over medium-low heat for about 5 hours, or until the steak is very tender.
- NOTE: To speed up the cooking time you can cut the meat into cubes.
