From Vinman 12 years agoIngredients
- 2/3 c water shopping list
- 1 c pineapple juice (you can squeeze 1c out of a 20oz can of Dole crushed pineapple) shopping list
- 1/4 c teriyaki sauce shopping list
- 1 T soy sauce shopping list
- 1 1/3 c dark brown sugar shopping list
- 2 t roasted minced garlic (heaping) minced store bought is perfect or roast 1 head. shopping list
- 3 T lemon juice shopping list
- 3 T finely minced onion shopping list
- 5 t Jack Daniels Whiskey (equates to 1T + 2 t) shopping list
- 1 T crushed pineapple (use from the can of crushed pineapple you just juiced) shopping list
- 1/4 t cayenne pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Combine water, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce and brown sugar in medium saucepan over high heat.
- Stir occasionally until mixture boils, reduce heat to a light-med boil (so it doesn’t boil over).
- Stir in garlic, lemon, whiskey, crushed pineapple and cayenne pepper to pan.
- Make a mental note of the sauce level in the pan at this point.
- Let mixture simmer until reduced by half (approx 50 min).
- The idea is to keep a light-med boil during the reduction process.
- The sauce will be done when the bubbles seem to be raising through a light syrup rather than liquid. It will thicken further once chilled.
- Remove from heat, let cool until you can put sauce into a covered container.
- Place sauce in refrigerator to cool an hour or so to thicken. It's best if made the day before and allowed to rest.
- This stuff is liquid gold! :)
