How to make it

  • In a bowl, slices bananas to desired thickness
  • toss with lemon juice
  • arrange 6 bread slices in a greased rectangle or square casserole dish
  • Top bread slices with a layer of bananas, chocolate chips, and then cover with remaining bread slices
  • In a mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, honey, vanilla and cinnamon
  • stir well
  • pour slowly over bread slices, coating evenly.
  • cover with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for 6-24 hours
  • preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • uncover dish
  • sprinkle bread slices with almonds and sugar
  • bake 5 minutes
  • reduce heat to 325 degrees
  • bake 20-25 minutes
  • let stand for 10 minutes
  • serve with maple syrup if desired
