Roasted Chicken 2

- 1 kg whole chicken shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika shopping list
- 1/2 lemon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper shopping list
- 1 tablespoon olive oil shopping list
How to make it
The Mix
- In a small bowl, mix the ginger powder, onion powder and paprika.
- In a different bowl, mix the salt and pepper.
- In a separate container, mix the lemon and oil together
The Preparation
- Rub the chicken (inside and outside) with salt and pepper, preferably under the skin. I usually cut little slits on the skin of the thick areas so I can rub the salt and pepper directly onto the meat.
- Rub the entire chicken with the three-powder mixture.
- Put the chicken in a small plastic bag and pour in the liquids (I usually buy frozen chicken that always come in a snug fitting plastic. Putting the chicken in a small bag helps in immersing it without using so much liquids.)
- Put in the ref and let sit for about 15 minutes
The Cooking
- Put the bird in a fit-for-cooking microwavable container and microwave at high for 10 minutes (done on a 700W microwave)
- Pre-heat the electric oven and once the microwave finishes, put the chicken into the rotisserie skewer and roast for 40 minutes at 210 deg C.
- Let sit for a while then serve (with my mash potato)!
