Ingredients

How to make it

  • With wire cutters, cut the round ends off of an ole' whisk, then arrange the tines so they are spaced evenly.
  • You are goin' to need a fairly large arena to make this sweet thing.
  • Now split a gargage bag and cover the floor.
  • Remember those wooden spoons...well,get them out of the drawers, and wedge them so they extend over the counter.
  • In a nice shiny Copper Kettle...add the sugar, syrup, and well water.
  • Now you could use a thermometer...but if you have made this before you can pretty much judge the 320 degree mark.
  • After it has reached this degree, remove, and place in glass container, for if not,the sugar left in the copper kettle will continue to cook, and you do not want that.
  • Place the snipped tines of the whisk into the hot sugar mixture, allowing the sugar to drain off for a couple of seconds until the draining sugar strands are roughly the same consistency.
  • ~Now~
  • Abracadabra...
  • Wave the whisk over the wooden spoons, allowing the strands to drift, until they rest on top of the spoons...Make very sure you are about one foot above the spoons during this process...Use long broad strokes and make sure you work quickly.
  • Gather up your cotton candy, and roll it onto the paper, that has been rolled into a long thin cone.
  • If you were not goin' to enjoy this right away then store in a air tight container...making very sure that you avoid moisture and humidity...which would cause it to melt and become sticky.
