How to make it

  • Rinse Lentils and leave to soak in cold water overnight
  • In a large Pan put the lentils and yellow peas, Bacon, and cold water to cover on to come to the boil
  • Whilst lentils and bacon are coming to the boil chop the vegetables if you havent already
  • Add the vegetables EXCEPT the potatoes at this stage
  • Turn down the heat and let it mingle and boil down to infuse all the flavours for about 3 hours or more
  • Add the potatoes about 30 minutes before end of cooking
  • This recipie is not refined down to the last detail its was handed down to me by my nanna on a scrap of paper its so simple you dont need any stock or anything fancy just put it in a pan and let it do its own thing use your judgement for how you like your lentils and potatoes cooked - Enjoy!!
