Sour Cream Apple Pie With Crumble Topping

- 1 unbaked pie shell (or homemade pastry- I prefer this option because the pre-made shells usually aren't deep dish) shopping list
- pie filling: shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1tbsp lemon juice shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- 6 medium apples shopping list
- cinnamon and nutmeg- hallf a tsp each shopping list
- crumble topping: shopping list
- 6tbsp melted butter (or margarine) shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup chopped walnuts shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
How to make it
- preheat oven to 400 F
- whisk together sour cream, egg, lemon and vanilla
- peel, core and quater apples then thinly slice
- add to sour crem mixture and mix well
- spoon mixture into pie shell
- bake pie for 30 mins @ 400 F- reduce to 350F and bake for 20 more mins
- for crumble topping:
- melt butter
- stir together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, walnuts, cinnamon and salt- mix in the melted butter
- crumble mixture on top of pie and bake for 20 mins - or until apples are tender
- let cool completely.
- I add a caramel drizzle on top of the crumble when it's cooled
- eat with vanilla ice cream!
