How to make it

  • In a large bowl, combine yeast, water, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add salt and oil. Stir in 2 1/2 cups of flour and teaspoon garlic(if using).
  • Knead in more flour until dough is no longer sticky.
  • Place dough in another large bowl coated with oil. Cover and let rise for one hour or until double in bulk.
  • Lightly grease a 14" or 16" pizza pan.
  • Punch dough down and roll out of floured surface to fit pan(or you can simply press dough into pan).
  • Grate mozzerella cheese(use as much or as little as you like). Add parmesean cheese. Toss to combine. Set aside.
  • Spread tomato sauce over crust. You can spread all the way to the edge or leave a 1" border.
  • Sprinkle half of cheese mixture over sauce.
  • Add sausage, onion, peppers,and mushrooms. Spread out over cheese.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the cheese over toppings.
  • Place pepperoni on top.
  • Bake in a preheated 425 degree preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is brown and crispy.
  • Let pizza sit for five minutes then cut into wedges.
  • Sprinkle on addition parmesean cheese and/or red pepper flakes and enjoy!
  • Note:
  • Use as much or as little sauce and cheese as you like and use whatever toppings you like. Ground beef, bacon, anchovies, olives, pineapple, ham, etc. Make an all veggie pizza. Experiment and have fun!

    Love the crust; should be fantastic. Let it raise bit before you add the toppings an you get deep dish pizza. Use fresh mushrooms & add sliced ripe olives & some anchovies and Molto bueno. Great post Anglegirl. RJ
