Butterfly Cake How To

- 1 favorite cake recipe for a 9 or 10 inch layer cake or springform cake shopping list
- or 1, 9 x 13 cake shopping list
- frosting as desired shopping list
- Decoration as desired ( use gumdrops, gummi candies, licorice etc ) shopping list
How to make it
- These are the most important instructions
- With the round cake:
- Cut the cake in half
- Cut each half in half again but make one part a little larger than the other
- You will now have 4 sections
- Curve the sides together to form a butterfly shape
- OR
- simply cut the cake in half and curve the two halves together to form a butterfly wind shape.
- If desired use a Twinkie for the middle section
- Decorate as desired
- For the 9 x 13 cake
- Cut off a rectangular portion from the top of the cake and reserve for the middle section of the butterfly
- Cut the remaining cake in half and then cut each half gain
- Form the halves around the center rectangular piece to shape the butterfly
- For all cakes:
- Frost cooled cake as desired
- Use thin licorice sticks as the antenna, gum drops or other candies for the colored spots on the wings and so on.
- One can get very imaginative with the colors of the frosting and the decorative
