Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
Quick recipe for biscuits.

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco Shortening
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Directions
  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Cut in Crisco and buttermilk.
  3. Roll out to about 1-inch thick.
  4. Cut into circles or desired shapes.
  5. Bake at 450^F for about 12 minutes.
  6. **Note** Do not over mix as this will cause the dough not to rise well.

Alterations


Good recipe, similar to mine, but I use half the sugar with a pinch of baking soda to take away the sour taste of the buttermilk.


Much like mine, but a suggestion... Use the same amount of milk, but use half buttermilk and half regular milk. Helps with the sour taste as well...
