Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a large glass bowl.
  • Mix well using a fork or your fingers :)
  • Grate frozen butter into the flour mixture and using a COLD fork, cut into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs and will hold it's shape when "pressed" together.
  • Add in bacon pieces and butterscotch chips and mix until just combined
  • Make a well in center of mixture.
  • Add the egg to the half and half and give it a lil whisk or beating to combine.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the well and carefully mix with the flour to create a stiff dough. I suggest just using your hands and make sure you're gentle and don't over mix. The dough should be slightly sticky and come together into a ball.
  • Drop the dough ball onto a prepared baking surface(a lightly floured baking pan, parchment lined baking pan or a baking stone-I use a baking stone. I don't flour it)
  • Shape and flatten dough into about a 1-1/2 inch thick disk shape.
  • Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter(I use a "rocking" style pizza cutter and it works great!), cut into 6 triangles.
  • Using a thin spatula/flipper, carefully separate the triangles to leave about an inch between them.
  • Brush tops with melted butter.
  • Bake in a 350 oven for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned on top.
  • *you can certainly roll this dough for a smoother shape, if desire, we just like the rustic look and it's quicker and easier. :)
