How to make it

  • Place prunes in a bowl and cover with boiling water.
  • Cover bowl with plastic and let stand 2 hours.
  • Strain (reserving liquid) and transfer to a food processor.
  • Puree, adding soaking liquid as necessary to achieve desired consistency (aim for an "apple butter" like puree for baking, if using for infants dilute as needed).
  • Store in the fridge or portion into 1/4 cup servings and freeze.
