From gourmetana 9 years agoIngredients
- 1 pound potatoes such as Desirée, peeled and diced fairly thin (maximum 1/2 inch) shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 cup single cream shopping list
- 3 sprinkles of nutmeg shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 4 spring onions, roughly chopped shopping list
- 2 tbsp grated cheese, I used red gloucester shopping list
- 4 small knobs of butter shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat your oven to 375/400F.
- Place your potatoes on the bottom of a roasting tin.
- Sprinkle the potatoes with the spring onions and cheese. See Photo
- In a jug mix milk, cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Pour the creamy mix over the potatoes. See Photo
- Scatter the butter on top and put it in the oven for about 1 hour.
- ***You might need to cover the potatoes with foil half way through to prevent burning. In this case make sure you remove foil 10 min prior the end. Also prick the potatoes with a fork to make sure they are tender and done. I've baked this gratin in different ovens and the cooking time really varies.***
