Christmas Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

* 1½ cups sugar

* 1 cup shortening

* 2 eggs

* 1 teaspoon nutmeg

* ½ teaspoon salt

* 3 cups flour

* 1 teaspoon baking soda

* 1 cup sour milk (OR: 1 cup sweet milk plus 1 teaspoon vinegar)

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs in one bowl. In another bowl, combine nutmeg, salt and flour. Stir soda into milk. Alternately add milk mixture and dry ingredients mixture to first bowl and mix well. Add vanilla extract. Drop teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle tops with sugar. Bake at 375° F for 10 minutes.
