Cinnamon Chip Scones

- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed firmly shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, cold* shopping list
- 1/2 cup whole milk shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3/4 cup cinnamon flavored baking chips shopping list
- Add'l Tbsp of brown sugar mixed with 1/4 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- *For best results, place stick of butter in freezer for 10 to 15 minutes, and when reedit use grate with a box grater. shopping list
- For Icing, whisk together until smooth and thick: shopping list
- 1 cup confectioners sugar shopping list
- 2 to 3 tbsp milk shopping list
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat over to 400F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In large bowl, whisk or sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
- Using box grater, grate cold butter into flour mixture. Mix together with fork or pastry blender until mixture resemble coarse meal.
- In separate bowl, whisk egg, milk and 1 tsp vanilla together. Add to flour mixture and stir until just blended.
- Set aside about 1 Tbsp of cinnamon chips; Fold remaining cinnamon chips into batter.
- Place dough onto parchment lined baking sheet. With floured hands, gently press into an 8" circle, about 1 - 1/2" thick.
- Sprinkle with reserved chips and brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Score into 8 wedges with sharp knife dusted with flour.
- Bake for 20 minutes in preheated oven.
- Remove from oven. Use knife to separate wedges, if necessary.
- Let cool about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Combine icing ingredients and drizzle over cooled scones.
