  • Take a big bowl whisk the cake mix, flour, butter, eggs, chocolate syrup and extracts until well blended. Mix in almonds and semisweet chocolate chips. After that, on ungreased baking sheets divide the dough in half and shape every piece into a 12-in. x 2-in. log. Bake it at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until hard to the touch and cautiously take away to wire racks as well as allow it to cool for 20 minutes.
  • Transfer to a cutting board and cut ½ inch slices using a sharp notched knife and put the slices on to their sides on the ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until firm and remove to wire racks to cool. Thaw vanilla chips and shortening over low heat in a small heavy saucepan and mix until smooth. Sprinkle over biscotti, let stand until set.
