How to make it

  • Place two wine glasses of water, and the sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and orange zest into a saucepan;
  • Bring the mixture to the boil, reduce the heat to its low and simmer, stirring regularly, for some 15 to 20 minutes or so until the mixture has reduced to form a thick syrup;
  • Add the alcohol and stir well to combine everything;
  • Increase the heat and cook until the mixture is piping hot, but not boiling;
  • Serve immediately in glasses;
  • Optional: You can, if wish, strain the mixture before serving.

    Great post Don. I do like this. However, 1.5 litres is 3 pints or 51 fluid ounces. If you're converting metric to British or US measures. This is on the list for the holidays. Thanks. RJ
