How to make it

  • Set oven to 325 degrees. Butter pie tin well. Add cream of tartar to egg whites and beat until frothy. Add sugar (a small amount at a time) and beat until mixture holds beaters and sugar is dissolved. Gently fold in nuts, crackers and vanilla extract. Place in pie tin and bake 30 minutes.
  • One tip: fold in the nuts and crackers very carefully to keep the egg whites light and fluffy ........twill10

    What I did with this dish to finish it , after baking I would use a little pressure on top of the pie and smash it down some to compact it , this would facilitate slicing and then after slicing, before or after top with whipped cream and nuts, if you slice the pie after adding the whipped cream and nuts to the top use a knife and have a room temperature or warm glass of water to wash off the knife after each slice, that way you will get clean slices , be sure knife is clean and dry and after each slice. This method adds to the presentation of the pie, it will be clean, dry and pretty.
