Italian White Lasagna

- • 8 oz. (225g) lasagna noodles. shopping list
- • 1 lb (500g) ground beef, get good stuff. shopping list
- • 1 cup finely chopped celery. shopping list
- • 3⁄4 cup chopped onion. shopping list
- • 2 cloves garlic, fine minced. shopping list
- • 2 tsp. basil. shopping list
- • 6 – 8 mushrooms, sliced. Depending on size. shopping list
- • 1 tsp. oregano. shopping list
- • 3⁄4 tsp. salt. shopping list
- • 1 cup light cream. shopping list
- • 1⁄2 cup dry white wine. shopping list
- • 3 oz. (85g) cream cheese, cubed. shopping list
- • 1 cup mild cheddar cheese or your choice. shopping list
- • 1 1⁄2 cups gouda cheese or your choice. shopping list
- • 16 oz. (450g)cream-style cottage cheese. shopping list
- • 1 egg, slightly beaten. shopping list
- • 2 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, grated. Keep cold until used. shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F. (190 C.).
- 2. Brown beef, celery, onion and garlic in 1 Tbs. oil; drain.
- 3. Stir in seasonings.
- 4. Add cream cheese and cream.
- 5. Cook over low heat until smooth.
- 6. Add wine, shredded Cheddar and Gouda (or cheese of your choice).
- 7. Stir together egg and cottage cheese, set aside.
- 8. Layer cooked noodles, part of meat mixture, cottage cheese, 1/3 – ½ of the Mozzarella.
- 9. Repeat until all is used; top with Mozzarella.
- 10. Top with arranged mushrooms.
- 11. Bake on top rack for 40 minutes.
