How to make it

  • Fry onions in some oil or ghee
  • Add all the spices and herbs
  • Cook for another 5 minutes
  • Wash off the lentils
  • Add to saucepan
  • Add water
  • Simmer very low until lentils are soft (15 – 30 min)
  • Remove star anise and cardamom pods
  • Serve with poppadums and plain greek soy yoghurt
