From sbhardin 8 years agoIngredients
- 1 1/2 cup All Purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1 Tbsp baking powder shopping list
- pinch of salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup of buttermilk shopping list
- 1/3 cup melted butter shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- Citrus Glaze shopping list
- 1 almost full cup of confectioners sugar (6 oz) shopping list
- 1-2 tsp of grated lemon, lime or orange (depending on the fruit) shopping list
- 2 Tbsp of fresh squeezed lemon juice shopping list
- tiny pinch of salt shopping list
How to make it
- preheat over to 375 degrees
- • Beat together buttermilk, butter, egg and vanilla then add to the dry ingredients. Mix until dough binds together. Do not use food processor. With floured hands, form dough into a ball and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Pat dough into 1/2 inch circle and cut rounds out or cut triangles out of them for a more traditional look. Bake at 375 for 16-18 min, until golden brown.
- GLAZE
- Add the powdered sugar, zest, juice, and salt to a medium mixing bowl and whisk until smooth. Glaze will keep for 2 days in the fridge.
- After scones have cooled dip the top half of the scones in the glaze and let dry on a rack. The glaze will be clear.
- *The scones may seem under cooked when they first come out of the oven, they will continue to cook as they cool down.
