Ham and Asparagus toast rounds with creamy smoked Gouda drizzle

- 6 slices good quality bread shopping list
- 5 tablespoons butter, divided ( melt 2 tablespoons and set aside) shopping list
- 3 slices of good quality baked deli ham, cut in half shopping list
- At least 12 stalks thin asparagus (2 or more for each toast) shopping list
- 1/4 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 3 ounces smoked Gouda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. zatarains garlic and herb seasoning shopping list
- Parsley shopping list
- Dash pepper and salt shopping list
- Optional baby kale or other greens for garnish shopping list
How to make it
- Cut bread using biscuit cutter or bottom of glass
- Brush both sides of bread rounds with 2 tablespoons melted butter and brown in skillet until lightly browned on each side( about 30 to 40 seconds per side) set bread onto serving plates or a serving tray
- Add 1 tablespoon butter to skillet and heat on med high heat
- Add ham and cook until brown on each side( it only takes a minute or two per side)
- Remove ham and place one serving onto each round( you may need to fold ham if too large)
- Add a drizzle of olive oil plus 1 tablespoon butter to skillet and heat on med high
- Add asparagus and cook until just tender( about 2-3 minutes) season with salt and pepper
- Place a few asparagus on top of each ham toast
- Place remains tablespoon of butter in small saucepan and melt over med heat
- Stir in garlic and herb spice and heavy cream and allow to cook a minute or two
- Add smoked Gouda and stir until melted
- Remove from heat and drizzle each toast round with cream sauce
- Enjoy!
