How to make it

  • Add raisins to bowl cover with boiling water or heat in microwave 2 min on high then set aside to cool. Proof Yeast in warm water with 2 tsp sugar dissolved. Combine 4 1/2 cups flour to rest of dry ingredients including spices mixing well to combine... Whisk together Milk, Butter, molasses and eggs.
  • Drain raisins add to flour tossing to coat then combine all with liquid...If too wet add rest of flour dough should be very soft and sticky...Cover with greased cling and place in warm spot letting rise to triple the size 1- 1 1/2 hours... Grease a baking pan well with butter or shortening..Dump dough out on well floured surface de-gas slightly dust with flour and cut into 16 pieces..Rest 10 minutes shape into balls place in pan brush with melted bitterer oil cover and rise 30 minutes.. While waiting preheat oven 400* .. Reduce heat 375* and bake Bake buns about 20 minutes ... Brush tops with butter remove and cool on racks...
  • **** NOTE**** For regular white buns omit molasses add 1/4 cup sugar instead and omit rains and spice unless you are making raisin buns.......Everything else remains the same ....
