Snickerdoodles
From bakerme 6 years agoIngredients
- 3 C. all-purpose or bread flour (see note) shopping list
- 2 tsps. cream of tartar shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 C. (1 stick) butter, softened shopping list
- 1/2 C. butter flavored shortening shopping list
- 1-1/2 C. sugar shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 2 tsps. vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 C. sugar shopping list
- 2 tsps. cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In another large bowl, cream together butter, shortening, and 1-1/2 C. sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Gradually stir in flour mixture and mix well.
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 C. sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll dough into 1-1/2 inch balls. Roll the balls in the cinnamon/sugar mixture and place them 2 inches apart on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake 8 mins. or until the tops are crackly and just "set", but not too firm (they may seem undercooked, but will firm up as they cool). Cool the cookies a few minutes on the baking sheet, then remove them to a wire rack and cool completely.
- Note: Both flours "work", but I find that bread flour makes thicker cookies in my oven. Every oven is different, so use whichever you have on hand or prefer. Enjoy!
