Yummy Vodka Sauce

- 3 tablespoons butter, divided shopping list
- 1 tsp olive oil shopping list
- 2 cloves mince garlic shopping list
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions( both green and white parts) shopping list
- 1 can (28 ounces) plum tomatoes shopping list
- 1 tsp Garlic and herb spice ( or 1/2 tsp Garlic powder and 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning) shopping list
- Dash red chili flakes shopping list
- Salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil( use fresh it makes a difference) shopping list
- 1/3 cup vodka( you can add a tad bit more if desired) shopping list
- 2/3 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese shopping list
- Additional chopped basil and Shaved Parmesan for garnish shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter in large skillet over medium heat.
- When butter is melted, add the green onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened, about 2 minutes.
- Add the garlic, spices and red pepper flakes and cook another minute. Remove from the heat and stir in the vodka.
- Hand crush the tomatoes and add to pan.
- Return the skillet to medium heat and simmer, stirring often, until the alcohol cooks off, about 6 to 7 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream , remaining butter, and Parmesan.
- Lower heat to low and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 4 minutes.
- Stir in the basil.
- Serve over pasta, rice, baked chicken or fried cutlets
