How to make it

  • Add the ingredients to your bread maker in the order recommended by your manufacturer.
  • For my machine, I add all the wet ingredients, followed by the dry, and topped with the dry yeast.
  • Use regular loaf, regular setting. My machine takes 3 hours to complete a cycle.

    Subbed whey for the milk, canola oil for the shortening, and lemon zest for the fennel. Skipped the sugar. Trying for a savoury lemon bread.

    Making it today. No shortening on hand so I used butter. Dough a little stiff so I added one tablespoon water.
