Ingredients
  • Dumplings
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups Sifted Self Raising Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • Caramel Syrup
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Directions
  1. Caramel Syrup
  2. Caramelise 1/2-cup sugar in a heavy skillet over low heat by melting and browning to a light golden shade.
  3. Add remaining sugar, salt and butter, and then bring to a boil.
  4. Dumplings
  5. Sift together sugar, flour and baking powder.
  6. Cut in butter with blender or fork.
  7. Add milk and vanilla and stir only until mixed.
  8. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling syrup.
  9. Cover and cook over low heat for 12 minutes.
  10. Serve Hot, with Ice Cream & Whipped Cream.
