- 2 pounds of fresh ground beef. shopping list
- 1 quart tomato juice. shopping list
- 1 (29 ounce) can of tomato purée. shopping list
- 1 (15 ounce) can of drained kidney beans. shopping list
- 1 (15 ounce) can of drained pinto beans. shopping list
- 1 chopped medium large onion. shopping list
- ½ cup of diced celery. shopping list
- ¼ cup of diced green bell pepper. shopping list
- ¼ cup of chili powder. shopping list
- 1 tsp of ground cumin. shopping list
- 1 ½ tsps of garlic powder. shopping list
- 1 tsp of salt. shopping list
- ½ tsp of ground black pepper. shopping list
- ½ tsp of dried oregano. shopping list
- ½ tsp of sugar. shopping list
- ⅛ tsp of cayenne pepper. shopping list
How to make it
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet then drain it of the fat.
- In a 6 quart pot, place the beef and all the other ingredients.
- Simmer covered for 1 to 1 ½ hours stirring every 15 minutes.
- Or you can cook for 3 to 4 hours in slow cooker on low.
