- 1/2 cup rye flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour shopping list
- 4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 t. bread makers yeast shopping list
- 2 1/2 t. salt shopping list
- Pinch Xanthan gum shopping list
- 2 c. buttermilk shopping list
- 2/3 c. Water shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening shopping list
How to make it
- Add all ingredients other than the shortening, in order as recommended in to your bread maker.
- Use the dough setting and let the bread maker do its work.
- Check partway through the kneading to confirm that you have a smooth mounded dough. If too dry add water, two tablespoons at a time and if necessary start the dough cycle again.
- Leave the dough to rise in the pan, about eight hours. The dough should fill the pan to the top.
- Grease two loaf pans with the shortening.
- Tip out the dough from the bread maker pan and split it in two. Place the dough in the pans.
- Cover with a tea towel to rise to bread height, about an hour.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Brush the crust with water and bake the bread for 35-40 minutes.
