- 1 9-inch unbaked pastry shell shopping list
- FILLING: shopping list
- 4 large baking apples, cored and sliced (peeled or unpeeled - your preference) shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice shopping list
- TOPPING: shopping list
- 1/2 stick butter shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425.
- PREPARE FILLING:
- Combine apples, sugar, nutmeg and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Stir, making sure apples are well coated.
- Place into unbaked pastry shell.
- PREPARE TOPPING:
- Combine the sugar and flour in a mixing bowl.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter.
- Slowly add the sugar/flour mix until crumbly.
- COMBINE THE TWO:
- Sprinkle this topping mix over pie filling, covering to edges.
- Slide pie into brown paper bag.
- Fold open end closed twice, fastening with paper clips or staples.
- BAKE in 425 degree oven for 60 minutes.
- Split bag open, remove pie and cool on wire rack.
- Serve plain, with cheese or ice cream.
