How to make it

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • 2. In a bowl, mix 2 lbs minced beef, 1 1/2 cups crumbled saltine crackers, 1 cup whole milk, 1/2 tsp Italian herbs, 1/2 tsp powdered garlic, 1/2 tsp powdered onion, 1/4 tsp cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • 3. Shape the mixture into 1/2-inch-thick hamburger steaks. Dredge them in flour.
  • 4. Brown the steaks in a skillet over medium-high heat, then transfer them to a baking dish.
  • 5. Whisk together 2 cans condensed mushroom soup and 1 1/2 cups whole milk. Pour the mixture over the steaks in the baking dish.
  • 6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes until cooked through and the gravy is bubbly.
  • 7. Let it rest briefly before serving. Garnish however you choose! Enjoy with your choice of side dishes.
