How to make it

  • In a double boiler, melt butterscotch morsels and 1 tablespoon of shortening.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread onto an ungreased 9-inch square pan.
  • Cover with an even layer of mini marshmallows.
  • Gently press into the surface.
  • In a double boiler, melt semi-sweet chocolate morsels and remaining shortening.
  • Spread evenly over the marshmallow layer.
  • If desired, top with additional chopped nuts.
  • Cool until firm.
  • Cut into squares.
  • Makes 2 pounds of candy.

    My aunts made this growing up, only they didn't use chocolate, only butterscotch. (Of course, the chocolate can only make it better!) They called it Canadian Candy, I have no idea why. Thanks for posting!
