This is a delightful recipe to serve as an appetizer for any occasion. I usually

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup soft butter or cream cheese
  • 20 slices bread of your choice
  • 5 hardboiled eggs
  • 8 ounces canned sardines in oil, oil reserved
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Directions
  1. Spread 1 side of each slice of bread with butter or cream cheese.
  2. Place all the remaining ingredients except reserved oil in a food processor.
  3. Whirl until a spread is formed, adding reserved oil and/or mayonnaise to bring it to spreading consistency.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly over half the slices of bread, top with the other half, remove the crusts and cut into quarters for tea sandwiches.

I just had to take a look, I couldn't believe someone would actually post a recipe for something as simple as devilled egg sandwiches. The addition of sardines effectively crosses it off my list, but I'm sure you'll find fans!

Same as above for me---the recipe sounds interesting, but where is the rest of it? Do ya then just slap some sardines and deviled eggs on the bread? Please post the rest asap.
