These are decadent. The combination of lamb and beef is good enough but when you add all the herbs and the light and refreshing cucumber sauce in a pita, heavenly.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1 pound ground round
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned pepper
  • 10 pieces pita bread
  • Mediterranean Cucumber Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 medium cucumber peeled seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried mint

Directions
  1. Thoroughly mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Mix ingredients together well in a mixing bowl.
  3. Form into 10 patties then cut each patty down center making half-moon shapes.
  4. Grill patties on a well oiled grill.
  5. Baste each side of patties with olive oil while grilling and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Warm pita bread in an oven before serving.
  7. Place two of the half moon patties on each piece of pita bread then top with cucumber sauce.
  8. Fold pita bread over.
  9. To make sauce thoroughly mix all ingredients together in a bowl then cover and refrigerate.
