Gilli Gilli Recipe
My father made this dish throughout my childhood. It has now become a family recipe. It's definitely an unusual dish and is best served over cooked rice. It's a variable recipe depending on how strong of each flavor one prefers.

Ingredients
  • 3-6 chicken legs
  • 3-6 chicken thighs
  • 2 medium red tomatoes diced
  • 1 large white onion ( diced)
  • 1 c. soy sauce ( up to 2 c. as more chicken is added)
  • 16 oz of apple cider vinegar ( or more depending on amount of chicken)
  • 16 oz water
  • 1 stick of butter or margarine
  • 6 c. cooked rice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Melt butter in a large pot.
  2. Add chicken pieces, cook until lightly browned on both sides and salt and pepper to taste.
  3. While chicken is browning, dice tomatoes and onions into about 1 inch pieces.
  4. Once chicken is slightly brown, push to the side and in same pot add onion and cook until transparent.
  5. Next add diced tomatoes and cook until soft.
  6. Add soy sauce, vinegar and water.
  7. Cook over medium to high heat until chicken is completely done and coming off the bone.
  8. Add as much or less of soy and vinegar as taste suggests
