Apple Dumplings Knedle Z Jablkami

- 3 1/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- salt about 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 lb apples, peeled, cored and cut up in small pieces shopping list
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter shopping list
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. bread crumbs shopping list
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Combine flour with the egg, dash of salt, and as much water as kneaded to knead a smooth , loose dough.
- Roll out on a floured board 1/4 in. thick
- Cut out small circles.
- Place a piece of apple in center of each circle
- Fold over.Seal edges and roll in the palm of your hands.
- Cook in large kettle with salted boiling water until they float to top.
- Transfer to platter
- Add bread crumbs to butter and fry for 1 minute.
- Pour over dumplings
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar

My father-in-law loves these but instead of apples we use sour cherries or plums. He says both fruits were plentiful in Poland when he was a young man. I am certain the apple filling is just as delicious!
