Herbal Cheese Shortbread

- 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts shopping list
- 1/2 cup of grated asiago cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup of grated extra sharp white cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/4 cup of cold butter shopping list
- 3/4 cup of all purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried sage shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon of dry mustard shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon of coarse ground black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Toast the walnuts in a 350 degree oven for five minutes until golden brown but not burnt! Cool completely.
- Increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees.
- Using a metal blade in the food processor, combine the cheese and the butter. Process until crumbly. Add the flour, cooled toasted walnuts and all the remaining ingredients. Pulse again until a dough just barely forms.
- Divide dough in four parts. On a lightly floured surface pat into a disc. Roll into a five inch round. Cut each round into 6 wedges.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 8 minutes until lightly golden brown on the edges. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.
- Store in air tight tins.
