How to make it

  • Blend 1/2 of sugar and egg yolks in top part of a double boiler
  • Slowly stir in milk
  • Cook over hot water , stirring constantly, until mixture coats spoon
  • Remove from heat and chill approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours
  • Add salt to egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form
  • Gradually beat remaining sugar into whites
  • Fold egg whites into chilled mixture
  • Fold in the whipped cream
  • Add brandy and rum
  • Chill for several hours
  • Pour into a punch bowl; sprinkle with nutmeg
  • Makes about 30 - 4oz servings
