How to make it

  • Cook onions in 1 T hot shortening until golden brown ; remove from pan
  • Mix flour, salt and pepper together
  • Dredge liver slices with flour mixture
  • Fry in remaining shortening until brown on both sides
  • Add onions and water
  • Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until liver is tender
  • Add more water if necessary to prevent sticking

    This the recipe that I use only I soak the liver in buttermilk for an hour prior to frying.Makes beef liver tast like calf's.Good post...Bob
