How to make it

  • preheat oven to 180.c, and prepare the base by mixing together the almonds,sugar,flour,egg whites and essence.
  • Line the base of a 22cm tin with cooking paper, spoon mixture in and spread out base.Bake for 25mins until rich and golden in colour...leave to cool.
  • Topping: melt the chocolate with 125mls water,then cool.....toast the hazelnuts and almonds, chop roughly, and cream butter....then beat in melted chocolate,nuts and brandy.
  • Whip 215mls of the cream until it begins to thicken...fold into the chocolate mixture and pour onto the base, smooth over, cover and chill until firm.
  • Glaze:
  • melt together butter,chocolate,and milk...cool.pour over torte in tin.
  • spoon little blobs of cream at regular intervals around edge, and then using the tip of a fine skewer,swirl in the cream...chill to allow glaze to set....then run a knife around the tin and remove!
