Rich Chocolate Torte

- Macaroon base: shopping list
- 100g ground almonds shopping list
- 175g cater sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp flour shopping list
- 2 egg whites shopping list
- 2 drops vanilla essence shopping list
- baking paper shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 350g plain chocolate shopping list
- 50g hazelnuts shopping list
- 50g blanched almonds shopping list
- 75g unsalted butter shopping list
- 2 Tbsp brandy or rum shopping list
- 50g walnut peices shopping list
- 225ml double cream shopping list
- Glaze: shopping list
- 100g plain chocolate shopping list
- 25g unsalted butter shopping list
- 2 Tbsp milk shopping list
How to make it
- preheat oven to 180.c, and prepare the base by mixing together the almonds,sugar,flour,egg whites and essence.
- Line the base of a 22cm tin with cooking paper, spoon mixture in and spread out base.Bake for 25mins until rich and golden in colour...leave to cool.
- Topping: melt the chocolate with 125mls water,then cool.....toast the hazelnuts and almonds, chop roughly, and cream butter....then beat in melted chocolate,nuts and brandy.
- Whip 215mls of the cream until it begins to thicken...fold into the chocolate mixture and pour onto the base, smooth over, cover and chill until firm.
- Glaze:
- melt together butter,chocolate,and milk...cool.pour over torte in tin.
- spoon little blobs of cream at regular intervals around edge, and then using the tip of a fine skewer,swirl in the cream...chill to allow glaze to set....then run a knife around the tin and remove!
