Holiday Angel Food Rum Trifle Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup rum

3/4 slivered almonds toasted

3/4 cup golden raisins

1-3 ounce package vanilla pudding mix (for cooking)

1/2 cup whipping cream, whipped

1-10 ounce loaf angel food cake, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1/2 cup whipping cream

Slivered almonds, toasted (optional)

Whole fresh strawberries (optional)

Directions

Combine first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; let stand for 1 hour

Prepare pudding mix according to package directions using 2-1/2 cups of milk; cool

Fold whipped cream into pudding

Layer 1/3 each of cake, raisin mixture, and pudding in a 3-1/2 quart glass bowl, or trifle dish

Repeat layers twice, ending with pudding

Cover and chill at least 3 hours

Before serving, beat 1/2 cup whipping cream until soft peaks form

Spread over trifle

Garnish with toasted almonds (not soaked)

Garnish with whole strawberries

NOTE: Rather than the cooked pudding, instant pudding may be used, then add whipped cream as directed. This is delicious, and can be doubled for a larger dish. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS!
