How to make it

  • Combine first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; let stand for 1 hour
  • Prepare pudding mix according to package directions using 2-1/2 cups of milk; cool
  • Fold whipped cream into pudding
  • Layer 1/3 each of cake, raisin mixture, and pudding in a 3-1/2 quart glass bowl, or trifle dish
  • Repeat layers twice, ending with pudding
  • Cover and chill at least 3 hours
  • Before serving, beat 1/2 cup whipping cream until soft peaks form
  • Spread over trifle
  • Garnish with toasted almonds (not soaked)
  • Garnish with whole strawberries
  • NOTE: Rather than the cooked pudding, instant pudding may be used, then add whipped cream as directed. This is delicious, and can be doubled for a larger dish. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS!
