How to make it

  • In a double boiler, melt chocolate over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and bring to room temperature.
  • In a bowl, cream shortening and sugar with an electric mixer until light.
  • Add chocolate.
  • Add salt, cinnamon and milk. Mix to blend.
  • In a bowl, sift flour and baking powder.
  • Add to chocolate mixture.
  • Add more flour, if needed, to make dough stiff.
  • Drop by tablespoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheet 1-inch apart.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 minutes, or until edges are crisp.
  • Remove from oven and cool on wire racks for 20 minutes.
