How to make it

  • In a heavy saucepan combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  • Stir in the water until smooth then bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Cook and stir for about 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add the butter, lemon and lime juice, and lemon and lime zest and stir until butter is melted.
  • Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm.
  • Serve with gingerbread, etc as dippers.
  • Makes about 5 cups.
