all my food is from the basic recipes but i like to do my own twist to them.baked alaska i make often at work.sponge base,any fresh berries that are available.vanilla ice cream annd merengue,baked in the oven

Ingredients
  • 1 sponge flan base,supermarkets sell these
  • summer berries,strawberrys.rasberries blackberries ect,ect.tinned fruit can be used if you want,
  • 1 lemon sqeezed
  • vanilla ice cream
  • 4 egg whites,whipped with 2 or 3 oz of caster sugar till forming ribbons
  • sugar
  • brandy

Directions
  1. put the sponge in oven proof baking dish,dont worry about the edges just sqeeze it in.make your own sponge if you want
  2. mix the assorted berries of your choice with the lemon,2 tbs sugar drop of brandy and stir together
  3. place on the sponge to the edges
  4. cover with about a litre of ice cream
  5. cover with the merenge right to the edges,so no ice cream is showing
  6. cook in hot oven for 3 4 mins keep your eye on it though,serve straight away with double cream and watch your waists grow.regards
