Spiced Cherries Recipe
These cherries are great for serving over ice cream or also as an alternative to cranberry sauce with your Thanksgiving turkey.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c orange juice
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated orange rind
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp mace
  • 2 lbs dark sweet cherries, pitted (or 2 16 oz frozen pitted dark sweet cherries)
  • 2 tbsp brandy, dry sherry, or orange juice

Directions
  1. In a large saucepan, stir together the sugar, orange juice, vinegar, orange rind, cinnamon, and mace.
  2. Stir in the cherries.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat. Lower heat to medium-high and boil, uncovered, for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the brandy.
  5. Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving.
  6. This keeps well in the fridge for a week)
  7. Makes about 3 cups. Yum
