Maple Cottage Pudding

- 3/4 c maple syrup shopping list
- 3/4 c water shopping list
- 1 1/2 c flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/3 c shortening shopping list
- 1 c sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3/4 c whole milk shopping list
How to make it
- Grease a 9 inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan combine the water and maple syrup and bring to a boil. Boil one minute then pour into pan.
- In a mixing bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
- In another bowl cream the shortening then blend in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Add the flour mix to the creamed mix alternately with the milk to make a thick batter.
- Carefully spoon batter over boiled maple syrup in pan then bake in a 350 degree oven for about 55-60 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
- Spoon hot syrup sauce over top of cake when serving. Great with ice cream!
