Almond Coffee Cake

- 2 T. butter-divided shopping list
- 2 C. flour divided shopping list
- 1 C. water shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1 t. almond extract shopping list
- Frosting: shopping list
- 1 C. powdered sugar shopping list
- 1-2 T. milk shopping list
- 1 t. almond extract shopping list
- 1 T. butter shopping list
How to make it
- Add 1 C. flour to 1 T.butter, blend with knives like making piecrust, add water until you can pat out two strips of dough on a cookie sheet. About a 1/4" thick and the length of the cookie sheet.
- Put 1 T. butter into sauce pan, add water and bring to boil-- remove from heat, add 1 C. flour, stir and blend, add 3 eggs and beat well after each egg -until all blended, shiny and greasey looking like cream puff dough. Add almond extract, stir and pour this onto dough on cookie sheet, spread out to cover all dough.
- Bake at ~375 for 40-50 minutes. It should be brown, flakey and raised. Remove from oven, cool and frost.
- Prepare frosting and frost the coffee cake when cool.
- Sprinkle slivered almonds on top if you would like.
