Roast Pork Indonesian Style - Babi Pangang

- 1 lb. pork tenderlion shopping list
- Half a head of cabbage shopping list
- marinade Ingredients: shopping list
- 2 t. ginger powder shopping list
- 1 t. garlic powder shopping list
- 1 t. Laos powder (Lengkuas or galangal) shopping list
- 1 t. onion powder shopping list
- 2 T. sweet soy sauce (ketjap manis) shopping list
- salt and pepper, to taste shopping list
- Sauce Ingredients: shopping list
- ½ c. dark brown sugar shopping list
- 2 t. sweet soy sauce (ketjap manis) shopping list
- ¼ c. white vinegar shopping list
- ¼ c. chicken stock shopping list
- 2 T. tomato paste shopping list
- 3 t. corn starch shopping list
- ¾ inch fresh ginger (shredded) shopping list
- 1 small onion, diced shopping list
- 1 t. sambal ulek or 1 fresh chili pepper shopping list
- 2 T. oil shopping list
How to make it
- Clean the pork. Mix all the marinade ingredients and spread over the fillet. Leave for a minimum of 1 hour; it’s best if left overnight in the fridge.
- Roast pork in oven at 425 degrees for about 30 minutes, until tender.
- Sauce: Soften the diced onion in the oil. Mix remaining ingredients and add to the onions. Slowly boil for 5 minutes until sauce thickens. If needed, sauce can be thinned down with water or pineapple juice.
- Serving suggestion: Cut the meat in thin slices and place on a bed of finely shredded cabbage. Pour sauce over meat. Serve with white rice.
