How to make it

  • Liberally butter a 9 inch square pan then spread the 1/2 c walnuts in pan.
  • In a heavy saucepan bring the brown sugar and butter to a boil then lower heat to medium-high (keeping mixture bubbling constantly) and cook for 12 minutes.
  • Pour quickly over walnuts in pan.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate over the hot toffee and spread smooth as it melts.
  • Sprinkle with extra chopped walnuts then chill.
  • Break into pieces when cold.
