Walnut Toffee Recipe
This is a great candy to make for the holidays. I sometimes substitute the walnuts for almonds, etc. It doesn't last long....

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c walnut pieces
  • 1 1/3 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 c butter (don't use margarine)
  • 3 squares chopped semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts for sprinkling

Directions
  1. Liberally butter a 9 inch square pan then spread the 1/2 c walnuts in pan.
  2. In a heavy saucepan bring the brown sugar and butter to a boil then lower heat to medium-high (keeping mixture bubbling constantly) and cook for 12 minutes.
  3. Pour quickly over walnuts in pan.
  4. Sprinkle the chocolate over the hot toffee and spread smooth as it melts.
  5. Sprinkle with extra chopped walnuts then chill.
  6. Break into pieces when cold.
